I finally tried stacking without dithering and my shots got way cleaner

Everyone says you must dither between frames to fight noise, but my old mount just can't do it. I was getting frustrated with my Orion Nebula shots from my backyard in Austin. So I tried taking 50 lights at 90 seconds each and just stacked them straight, no dither at all. The result had less walking noise than when I used to force a bad dither pattern. Has anyone else had a mount that just works better when you keep it simple?

Sometimes the gear just fights you on dithering (my old EQ mount was the same way). Forcing a bad pattern can actually make walking noise worse by introducing its own tiny errors. Clean, consistent tracking often beats a messy correction.

My old EQ mount took 45 minutes to dither once, @mila294.
