Had to choose between a new camera lens or a trip to the dark sky park in Utah
Honestly, I picked the trip and spent three nights camping, but my old lens fogged up every single evening. Ngl, I got maybe one decent shot of the Milky Way before giving up and just watching the stars. Anyone have tips for keeping gear dry in cold, clear conditions like that?

Man, I feel this so hard! I did the exact same thing last fall in Colorado. My lens fogged up so bad it was like looking through a shower door. I learned the hard way that you gotta leave everything in the bag when you come inside a warm tent. Now I just sleep with my camera in the foot of my sleeping bag, which is kinda weird but it works. That slow warm up in the car trick is totally the way to go.

Ugh that's the worst kind of luck! Feels like a perfect example of how the universe loves to mess with a good plan. You make the right choice for the experience, and then the little details trip you up. I always keep those silica gel packs from shoeboxes and toss a few in my camera bag, seems to help a bit. Letting your gear slowly warm up in the car before bringing it into a warm tent is key too.
