That fact about Neanderthals making glue from birch bark really got me

I was reading an article from Nature last week about a 50,000 year old site in Italy where they found traces of birch bark tar on stone tools. I always thought glue was a modern invention but these Neanderthals were heating bark to 350 degrees to make adhesive for their spear points. Has anyone else run into other everyday skills like that that turn out to be way older than we think?

That 350 degrees part really BLEW my mind too, I saw a documentary about it on PBS recently.
