Switched from trowels to dental picks for cleaning pottery at the Gila site last month
I used to just brush off dirt with a soft brush and call it good, but after messing up a rim sherd from the Mimbres culture, I switched to dental picks. Now I spend 20 extra minutes per piece, but I've found tiny painted details I never noticed before. Has anyone else tried finer tools for fragile ceramics?

I used to think brushes were good enough, but trying the picks on a Mimbres piece changed my mind quick.
