Spotted a fish carved into a stone at a church in Orkney and had to ask about it
Was poking around St Magnus Cathedral up in Kirkwall and noticed a tiny salmon scratched into a pillar near the back. A guide there said it's a pilgrim mark from around the 1200s, left by someone who'd made the trip to see St Magnus's relics. Anyone know of other cathedrals with little carvings like this hiding in plain sight?
