PSA: That old dig site at Wilson Creek might be fake...
A retired geoarchaeologist named Dr. Hendricks told me last month to double-check the soil layers at the Wilson Creek site before publishing anything. I blew him off because he's got a reputation for being overly cautious. Turns out the top 30 cm was backfill from a 1970s road project. We spent 6 weeks cataloging artifacts that were all out of context. Has anyone else run into a local expert who gave solid advice you ignored?

My grandpa used to tell me the best fishing spot was under the old railroad bridge, but I always went to the deeper holes instead. One day I finally tried his spot and pulled out a 5-pound bass on my first cast. Still feel dumb for wasting all those weekends working the wrong water.
