I was looking at old photos of my hometown's main street from the 80s
They just dug up the road for new pipes and you can see the original cobblestone street from the 1890s underneath the asphalt. It's wild to think that layer was just hidden for like 40 years. Has anyone else seen a dig in their city reveal something that old?

Cool find but is it that deep? They just put asphalt over old rocks. Happens all the time.

Yeah I saw a spot in my town where they paved right over old brick streets. You can see the outlines when the asphalt cracks in the summer heat. They just slap a new layer over history to save a buck, it's wild.
