Shoutout to the arborist who flagged a hidden oak wilt patch in my city park last Thursday

Was scouting a job near Piedmont Park and that guy pointed out a cluster of wilting red oaks I would have missed entirely, and now I'm wondering how many other crews are skipping the early signs - has anyone else caught oak wilt spreading through a park before it hit the homeowners?

Piedmont Park got hit with oak wilt back in 2019 too. I remember because my cousin's crew was treating pines there and missed the signs on some red oaks, and within a month three homeowners on the north edge had infected trees. It spreads through root grafts faster than people give it credit for, and a lot of crews just don't bother looking for the flagging leaves in the upper canopy.
