Rented a stump grinder for 3 hours, used it for 20 minutes

Paid $180 for a tow-behind grinder in Austin to take out one mesquite stump, then realized the roots were wrapped around my water line and had to hand-dig the whole thing anyway, so has anyone else just thrown in the towel and hired a pro after a rental gone sideways?
