Old timer told me to stop using my chainsaw's rakers at max height
He watched me for 2 minutes after I complained about kickback and said 'you're cutting with a pogo stick, not a saw'. Lowered em by maybe 1/32nd and now my cuts are actually smooth instead of bouncing all over - has anyone else had a grumpy old guy totally change your setup like that?

Had that exact thing happen with an old logger named Dave. He watched me for maybe 5 minutes and said I was "fighting the saw instead of letting it work." Dropped my rakers a hair and it felt like a different tool.

Dave might've been full of it, sometimes a saw just needs more teeth, not less raker.
