Just realized my old climb line vs. the new spliced eye, and I went with the splice
Twenty years back I ran a plain eye and a Blake's hitch on a 1/2 inch line, and I figured a spliced eye was just a fad for the young guys. When my old rope hit its retirement in March, I had to pick between buying another plain end or paying the extra $40 for a factory splice from a shop in Asheville. I went with the splice, and after 6 months of work it still runs smooth through my hitch and hasn't slipped a bit. The only thing I miss is the old feel of tying my own termination by hand. Has anyone else made that switch and felt the same way?
