Got a stubborn stump out in under an hour with a trick my uncle showed me

This old maple stump in a client's yard in Dayton was giving me grief, the roots were wrapped around a buried concrete slab. Instead of grinding for half a day, I drilled a dozen 1-inch holes straight down into it, poured in some stump remover crystals, and let it sit for a week. Came back, it was soft as sponge and I pulled the whole thing with a come-along. Has anyone else tried this on a tough one? What's your go-to method when a stump won't budge?

Seems like a lot of extra work for a stump. A good sharp axe and some patience usually gets the job done.

My own go-to method is usually just staring at the stump until it feels guilty.
