Found a weird trick for clearing wet leaves out of storm drains with a pole saw
Last fall I had a clogged drain on a property I was working at in Cincinnati, standing water everywhere, and my leaf blower wasn't cutting it. I grabbed my pole saw extension, put a hook attachment on the end, and started pulling clumps out from underneath the grate like a giant fork. Anyone else ever repurpose tree gear for random non tree jobs and have it work way better than expected?

Blower just pushes water around if the clog is underneath the grate, I've tried that route and had water spraying back in my face for twenty minutes. A hook on a pole grabber actually gets the matted wet leaves out instead of just wetting them down more. Scratching the grate is cosmetic at worst, and pole saw blades are tough enough to handle way worse than wet leaves and dirt. Most people underestimate how much leverage and reach a pole saw extension gives you over a leaf blower when the junk is really packed in tight.

Yeah, but that sounds like a lot more work than just shoving a leaf blower down there for a few seconds. Plus you're probably scratching up the grate or damaging the pole saw blade doing stuff it wasn't meant for.
