Can we talk about the $200 I wasted on those 'tree saddle' harnesses that tore after 3 climbs

I bought a pair of those cheap tree saddle harnesses from an online surplus site thinking I was saving money but the stitching started fraying on the second climb and the whole thing gave out on the third, nearly dropped me 15 feet from a red oak.

Did you check if the seller was actually authorized to sell climbing gear or just some random flipper? A lot of times those surplus sites are offloading factory seconds or knockoffs that never passed safety testing.

Wait, is this really a big deal or are we just looking for something to complain about? I mean, sure it sucks your harness broke after three climbs, but were you actually dangling 15 feet off the ground or is that a bit of an exaggeration? Even if it did break, aren't you supposed to have a backup safety line clipped in when you're that high? Honestly it sounds like you got what you paid for from a random site, not exactly shocking.
