An old timer in Portland told me to stop using my chainsaw with a dull chain and it saved my back

I used to just keep cutting with a chain that was dragging, thinking it was fine. This guy at the arborist supply shop in Portland watched me for a second and said 'you're fighting that saw, let it do the work.' I finally sharpened it right and I can get through a 30 inch oak log in half the time now with way less vibration. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized you were just making things harder?

Man my buddy Jake had the exact same wake up call a few years back. He was out cutting firewood for his dad's place and kept complaining about how his arms were shot after just a couple hours. I went over to help him one weekend and I grabbed his saw to make a cut and it literally felt like the chain was just rubbing against the wood. I asked him when he last sharpened it and he goes 'what do you mean sharpen it?' lol. So I showed him how to do it real quick with a file and we got back to work and he couldn't believe the difference. He was just standing there watching the saw eat through the logs like butter. Now he's the guy who tells everyone else to keep their chains sharp.
