Wasted $80 on a knockoff compressor valve kit, just buy OEM
Needed a valve plate kit for a Copeland scroll on a walk-in cooler. Saw a no-name brand on Amazon for $40 vs $120 for the real thing. Figured it's just metal and rubber right? Wrong. The gasket was off by 2mm, had to recut it. Then the reed valve cracked after 3 days. Pulled it apart again, lost a whole afternoon, finally ordered OEM. Ended up spending more in the long run. Anyone else get burned by cheap compressor parts?

That sounds about right lol. Amazon parts are just gambling with your time and the customer's product. Had a similar thing with a cheap contactor once, the terminals literally melted after a week. OEM stuff is expensive but it actually works first try. You pay for the peace of mind knowing you won't have to touch it again for years. Been there, done that, learned the hard way too.

It's like that with everything now, not just HVAC parts. People want to save a buck upfront but don't think about the headache later. I see it with tools, car parts, even furniture. Everyone's chasing the cheapest option on Amazon and then acting surprised when it breaks in a month. The real cost isn't the price tag, it's the time you waste fixing it again and the stress of wondering if it'll fail on you. I'd rather pay double once and forget about it than save twenty bucks and have to deal with it every few weeks. People have just gotten used to cheap junk being the normal way to shop.
