Vent: I finally stopped using steel wool on glass top stoves after a customer showed me her $1800 receipt
I used to scrub every glass top with steel wool and a little soap, thinking I was getting it clean because it looked shiny. Last month I was at a house in Mesa and the lady pulls out a receipt for a replacement top she had to buy two years ago, $1800, because some tech before me scratched it all to heck. I felt sick because I know I did that same thing to at least a dozen stoves over the years. Turns out those pads leave tiny grit that cuts the glass and it only shows up under certain light. Now I use a razor blade at a low angle and a non scratch pad with cerama bryte, takes maybe 2 extra minutes. My callback rate on glass tops dropped to almost nothing in the last 6 weeks. Any of you still using steel wool or did someone have to show you a receipt too before you switched?
