Took a gamble on a used Bosch dishwasher over a shiny new Frigidaire - got burned

Last month I had to choose between a clean used Bosch from a house flip for $150 or a new Frigidaire going for $450 at the local supply house in Phoenix. I picked the Bosch thinking I could save the client some cash and it looked mint. Got it installed, ran the test cycle, and two days later the control board decided to die mid-cycle. Now I'm stuck ordering a $200 replacement board and the client's pissed. Anybody else swear off buying used dishwashers from flips or do I just have terrible luck?

That "looked mint" part gets me every time. My buddy Mike bought a used Bosch from a flipped house in Mesa and swore the thing was perfect. Two weeks in, the drain pump started making a grinding noise like a blender full of rocks. He tore it apart and found a fork and a wine cork stuck in the impeller. By then the flipper had vanished and the house had already sold to someone else. Now he just buys new lower-end models and calls it a day.

Man that's wild but honestly it kinda makes me wonder if those "mint" Bosch units are secretly just the flippers' way of offloading cursed items. Like maybe they plant the fork and cork on purpose to speedrun someone else's heartbreak.
