Thought sealed bearings were overkill on dryer rollers until one call changed my mind
I used to slap the cheap bronze bushing rollers on every Whirlpool dryer that came through the shop, figuring they last about as long and nobody wants to pay extra. Then a lady in Garland called me back three times in one summer for the same squeal, and I finally pulled the drum and saw the bushing was egged out at maybe 60 hours of run time. The sealed bearing kit costs around $18 more and I figured she would balk at it, but she said just fix it right, and that machine has run quiet for 14 months now. I have put bearings in every roller since, no complaints, no callbacks. Any of you still running bushings or did everybody figure this out before me?
