That Friday night dryer call that made me rethink my whole tool bag
Got a call at 8pm last Friday from a lady in Arlington whose dryer would run but never get hot. Turned out the thermal fuse was blown but also the vent was packed with three years of lint (like, a solid 2 inches of it). How often do you guys actually check the vent before swapping parts, or do you just go with the error code and hope for the best?

Man, hard disagree from me lol. If you're swapping parts before even looking at the vent, you're wasting time and money for no good reason. The amperage draw on a choked dryer is wild, and I've seen vents so plugged they basically acted like a solid wall. Checking that first takes like 30 seconds with a bare hand or a leaf blower, and it's the number one cause of no heat on those units. You're just asking for a callback or a pissed off customer if you skip it and hope the fuse swap alone fixes everything.

I hear you but "acts like a solid wall" is a stretch, half the time it's just lint not a total block lol.
