Remember when you could fix a dryer with just a screwdriver and a multimeter? (Now it's all about the control board)

Used to think planned obsolescence was just a conspiracy theory. Then my washing machine's main board died three months out of warranty. The repair cost was more than half a new machine. Makes you wonder if they design them to fail.

Yeah the "three months out of warranty" thing hits home. My buddy had a fridge that just stopped making ice right after the two year mark. The repair guy said the whole ice maker unit was shot and it was a known flaw. Cost a fortune to fix, basically a new fridge tax. It's hard to believe that timing is just bad luck every single time.
