Quit testing dishwasher drain pumps with water still sitting in the tub
Had a Kenmore in my shop on Tuesday that the homeowner swore had a dead pump, but the tub was still full and the float switch never let it run. Pump the water out first, then test, or you'll chase a ghost every time. Anybody else see this on newer Whirlpools too?
Buddy of mine ran into this exact thing last month on a Whirlpool. Tub was half full, he pulled the pump and bench tested it, it spun fine. Put it back and still nothing. Turned out the control board locks out the pump if the float sees water, so he wasted a whole afternoon on a pump that was never the problem. Drain it first, then test.
