Pro tip: stop blaming the compressor when it's the start relay every time

I had a Frigidaire fridge in Boise last month that was clicking like crazy and the customer swore the compressor was shot. Checked the relay first because it's a 15 minute swap and a $12 part, and sure enough the contacts were burnt. I know it's tempting to go straight for the big ticket item, but I've seen so many people condemn a good compressor that just needed a relay. Anyone else keep a few universal start relays in their van just to test before you commit to a compressor?
