Overheard a customer in Phoenix call their fridge a 'cold box' and it threw me for a loop
I was picking up a new thermal fuse at the parts counter and the guy next to me told the clerk his 'cold box' had stopped making ice. The clerk just stared for a second before asking for the model number. It made me realize how many different names people have for the same appliance, which must make phone diagnostics a nightmare sometimes. What's the weirdest name you've ever heard a customer use for a common appliance?

My grandma in Alabama always called the TV remote the "channel flipper." I worked a summer at a big box store and the worst was "the spinny thing" for a microwave turntable. You could hear the tech support guys sigh from across the store. I guess "ice box" is still common, but "cold box" is a new one for me.
