Just had a weird thing happen with a Samsung fridge ice maker in a rental unit

I mean, I've seen a lot of them fail, but this one in a place over in Springfield had a full freeze-up even after I swapped the whole assembly. Turns out the new water line I ran was too close to a cold air duct and it was freezing inside the line before it even got to the unit. Had to re-route it with some foam insulation. Has anyone else run into a problem like that where the fix caused a new issue?

Wait, the new line froze inside the wall? That's wild! How do you even figure that out?

Right? We had that happen in our old house. The pipe for the bathroom sink froze solid behind the kitchen cabinets. We only knew because the water pressure dropped to a trickle and there was a cold spot on the wall.
