I thought those cheap plastic drain hose brushes were a total waste of money.
Used one on a nasty front-loader pump filter clog last week and it saved me 20 minutes of picking gunk out by hand. What other simple tools have you all been surprised by?

Seriously? I keep one of those in my laundry room and it's fine for little bits of lint. But if you had a real clog, I'm surprised it didn't just bend and make things worse. That sounds like a job for pliers and a lot of patience.
