Hit 500 fridge compressor replacements last Tuesday and it hit me different than I expected
I do a lot of appliance repair in Phoenix, mostly refrigerators since the heat kills them. I keep a logbook because the owner of my company requires it. Last Tuesday I was replacing a compressor on a 2017 Samsung in Glendale and I looked back and realized I hit exactly 500 compressor swaps. That number just sat with me. 500 times I have pulled a compressor, vacuumed the system, and brazed a new one in. Thats a lot of refrigerant and a lot of late nights. Never thought I would see that number when I started this trade 4 years ago. Anyone else keep count of specific repairs and get surprised by how many you have done?

Used to think keeping count of anything in this trade was just pointless paperwork, but that kind of milestone changes your mind. Getting to 500 of the same job really puts into perspective how many hours and how much sweat actually goes into this work. Your logbook is probably worth a lot more than just a record for the boss at this point.
