Had a furnace call in February where the homeowner had already replaced the ignitor, pressure switch, and board himself. Took me 45 minutes to find a single mouse nest in the fresh air intake pipe.

The real kicker is how many times we get called out for a "bad board" when it's just a blocked vent. People see the error code flash and assume it's the brain. They'll drop two hundred on a new circuit board but never check the free air coming in. Makes you wonder if we should start every diagnostic with a leaf blower pointed at the intake.
