Caught a dishwasher drain hose looped wrong after 5 years of service calls

Honestly found this on a job in Austin last Tuesday where the unit was making this weird gurgle noise. The hose was hanging down then back up, creating a trap for dirty water. Has anyone else seen installers miss the high loop that often?

That hose loop issue is pretty common in my experience. I started just running a bead of silicone around the air gap fitting to force the hose into a proper high loop before the installs are done. It stopped about 80% of those gurgle callbacks for me.

Silicone is a bandaid. If the hose cant hold a loop by itself you installed it wrong. Just zip tie it to the underside of the counter or cabinet, thats permanent and costs nothing. Slapping silicone on the fitting is gonna make a mess when someone needs to replace the air gap later. Ive seen that stuff harden and snap the plastic threads on removal. Quick fix is fine for a callback but dont call it a solution.
