Appreciation post: a customer's old Kenmore fridge in Phoenix had a weird hum and a warm freezer.

I bypassed the defrost timer with a jumper wire for 30 seconds to force a cycle, and the ice dam cleared. Is that a legit fix or just asking for a callback?

That's a temporary band-aid, not a real fix.

Totally agree with @brookebailey, that jumper wire trick just hides the real problem until it fails for good.
