Why I started freezing my coffee grounds before adding them to the bin
My apartment compost was getting super stinky and attracting fruit flies no matter what I did. On a whim I started tossing my used coffee grounds into a ziploc bag in the freezer overnight before adding them to my countertop bin. Now it stays way less gross and the ground coffee gets mixed in slower plus the cold slows down the rot. Has anyone else tried pre-chilling their greens like this or am I just making extra work for myself?

My neighbor froze her banana peels once and ended up with a weird ice cube that smelled like a smoothie gone wrong.
