Went to a friend's third floor walkup and saw their bokashi setup

My buddy in Chicago showed me his 5 gallon bucket system last weekend. He layers food scraps with bokashi bran and drains the liquid every 3 days. Anyone else tried this method in a small space without a balcony?

Oh man, I feel you on the no-balcony struggle. I've been running a similar bokashi setup in my tiny apartment kitchen, right next to the radiator. The drain liquid can get a bit funky if you forget about it for a day or two, but it's been a game changer for me. Just make sure you keep the bucket in a corner where you won't knock it over, learned that one the hard way.

Knocked mine over twice now. First time was 3am, barefoot, in the dark. That bokashi juice does not come out of grout lines. Second time my cat decided it was a new toy. She regrets nothing. I taped that bucket to the wall after that. Duct tape solves everything.
