Warning: My worm bin got way too wet after I added a whole melon rind
I got a bit overzealous with my food scraps last week and tossed in a big cantaloupe rind. A few days later, the whole bottom of my bin was a soggy mess. I tried adding a bunch of torn up cardboard egg cartons and mixing it all up, which actually soaked up the extra moisture. It's been three days now and things look much better. Has anyone else had luck with specific 'browns' for a sudden moisture problem?

Nice save with the egg cartons. I had a similar mess after adding a bunch of pumpkin guts last fall. Shredded paper from my home office junk mail drawer worked in a pinch, but dry leaves from the yard are my go-to now. They seem to add some fluff and air pockets while they soak up the wet spots.

My leaves always mat down into a wet, slimy layer.
