Visited a worm composting workshop and left with doubts about the whole trend
I went to that community center event downtown last Saturday, the one where they push vermicomposting for apartment folks. The instructor kept saying worms are the only real way to handle food waste indoors, and I just don't buy it. Ive been using a simple 5 gallon bucket with a tight lid and some dry leaves for about 14 months now, and it works fine. No worms, no special bins, no fuss. The smell is manageable if you chop stuff small and drain the liquid every few days. They made it sound like you need all this gear and upkeep, but my setup cost maybe 12 bucks total. Has anyone else tried the bucket method and stuck with it over the worm approach?
