Started a debate with my roommate about bokashi vs. worm bins

My roommate swears bokashi is better since it handles meat and dairy, but I argued worm bins are cheaper long term. We spent an hour arguing over which produces usable compost faster. What do you all think, is the upfront cost of worms worth it?

lol tbh this whole thing reminds me of how people assume the fancier option is always better when really the boring one works fine for most situations. like yeah bokashi can handle meat and dairy but how often are you actually tossing that stuff in there regularly, ya know? worm bins are just so low maintenance once they're going, plus you don't have to buy special bran every month. my buddy went all in on bokashi and now he's got like three buckets sitting in his garage smelling weird because he got lazy with it lmao.

yeah worms are just way easier honestly. i tried bokashi for like three months and it was annoying having to keep up with the bran and sealing the bucket right. one time forgot to drain it for a week and the smell was brutal. worms on the other hand ive had the same bin going for almost two years now and barely touch it except to toss in scraps and change the bedding every few months. they dont care if i skip a week or two either. plus the castings are so good for my plants. my sister does bokashi and shes always complaining about the bucket buildup too. simple is just better for most people imo.
