My bokashi bin lid cracked after 3 months and leaked smelly liquid all over my kitchen floor
It happened Tuesday morning before work, I had to soak up the mess with old towels and toss the whole batch because the smell was so bad, anybody else have a bokashi bin fail on them and switch to something else?

Those cracked lids always leak at the worst time - did you try contacting the company for a replacement?

The cracked lids always leak at the worst time" yeah that's exactly what happened to me. I read somewhere that some companies will send you a free replacement if you email them with a photo of the crack, but I was so disgusted by the smell I just threw the whole bin in the trash. I've seen people on gardening forums talk about switching to a regular bucket with a tight lid and doing it that way instead, since those don't crack as easy. Honestly, after that mess, I'm thinking about trying a worm bin or just composting outside in a pile. The bokashi system is supposed to work but if the container falls apart after three months, what's the point.
