My bokashi bin lid cracked after 3 months and leaked all over the kitchen floor
I thought buying a cheap bokashi bin off Facebook Marketplace was a good idea but the plastic lid split last Tuesday while I was at work. Came home to a puddle of pickled food waste smell on my linoleum and had to toss the whole batch. Anyone tried repairing a cracked bin lid with epoxy tape or should I just buy a proper one from a garden center?

Epoxy tape is a temporary fix at best for a bokashi bin. The pressure from the fermentation process will pop that repair right open again. Just bite the bullet and get a proper one from a garden center or even a big box store. Those cheap FB Marketplace bins are usually flimsy garbage anyway. How bad was the smell when you finally got it cleaned up?

Hold up, that smell thing got me 😳 I didn't even think to ask about the cleanup after the tape failed. Bet that was brutal. I tried patching a cracked bucket once with duct tape and it was fine for like a week, then the pressure just pushed it all out. Whole kitchen smelled like pickled trash for days. lmao yeah, probably better to just spend the money on a legit bin.
