My bokashi bin leaked on my carpet and I need a better drain setup
Last Tuesday I came home to a dark wet spot the size of a dinner plate right under my bokashi bucket in the corner of my bedroom closet. I had been lazy and let the tea collect for about 10 days instead of draining it twice a week like I'm supposed to. I grabbed a turkey baster, sucked out what was left, then soaked the spot with a mix of warm water and dish soap and blotted it with old towels for 20 minutes, and it actually came out fine. Now I'm thinking about setting the bucket on a cheap plastic boot tray with a jar underneath so I catch drips before they hit the carpet. Does anyone use a different setup to keep the liquid off the floor, or am I the only one who has done this?
Did you ever think to just set the whole bucket inside a bigger plastic tub with a lid? That's what I do now after my own leak, and I keep a mason jar in there to catch the tea so nothing touches the floor. It costs almost nothing and I sleep a lot better knowing the carpet is safe.
