Found a worm bin solution for my tiny studio kitchen

So last week I finally got a small worm bin from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm and set it up in my closet. I've been trying to compost in my 400 square foot apartment for like 3 years now with no luck. Bokashi buckets worked okay but smelled too much and those countertop electric things are way too expensive for me. This worm bin is just a 10 gallon plastic tub with holes drilled in it and it fits right next to my shoe rack. I put in some shredded newspaper, a handful of dirt, and my food scraps from the past 5 days and the worms seem happy so far. Has anyone else managed to keep a worm bin in a small space without it getting gross or attracting fruit flies?

Wait you put it in your CLOSET? That's wild man, I would be terrified of waking up to worms crawling across my shoes in the middle of the night.

I remember reading somewhere that those bins can actually attract roaches if they're not sealed right, so the closet move is a gamble. You ever had any pests show up near yours?
