Bokashi vs worm bin for my tiny kitchen
After 3 months of staring at compost buckets under my sink, I finally had to pick between a bokashi bucket and a worm bin. I went with the bokashi because I read worms can be fussy if you mess up the balance, and my apartment stays warm year round. Honestly, the fermented pickle smell is stronger than I expected, but after two weeks the first batch broke down way faster than I thought it would. I am still figuring out the right ratio of food to bran so it doesn't get too wet. Has anyone else had trouble with bokashi getting too sour smelling?

Got a little sour on my first batch too, it's the liquid that sits at the bottom. Started draining it more often, like every other day, and the smell calmed right down. I've noticed how many things in life get weird if you let the junk pile up - like forgetting to take out the trash or letting a small argument fester. That sour smell was just a signal I was ignoring the maintenance part of the process.
