A weird thing happened with my worm bin last week

I've had my worm bin in my Seattle apartment for about three years now. Last week, I opened it and saw a bunch of tiny white bugs crawling around the top layer. It freaked me out at first, but after checking online, I think they're just pot worms, which are harmless. I probably added too many coffee grounds last month and made things a bit too wet. I've been letting it dry out a little by adding more shredded paper. Has anyone else dealt with a sudden pot worm party in their bin?

Totally get the initial freak out. I once panicked and almost dumped my whole bin on the balcony because I thought the pot worms were some kind of apartment-eating larvae. Turns out my bin was just a soggy mess from all my tea bags. Good call on the shredded paper, that usually fixes my over-enthusiastic feeding mistakes too.

Right, because nothing says "fun hobby" like mistaking your worms for an alien invasion. I swear, the first time I saw pot worms I thought my bin was possessed. I was ready to call a priest instead of just drying things out. Now I just tell myself if it moves and isn't crawling out of the bin, it's probably fine. But man, that moment of panic is REAL.
