TIL a $2 flea market booklet told me my grandma's old Pyrex bowl was made before 1950, here's how I checked it
I picked up a little 1960s Pyrex collector guide at a flea market in Akron for $2 and it had a whole page on mixing bowl dates that blew my mind. Turns out if the bowl says "Pyrex" in all caps with no number, it was made before 1950, and if it has a model number like 404 it started after that. I went home and checked the green bowl my grandma left me and sure enough, just the word PYREX, no number, so it's an early one. The booklet also said the red and yellow nesting sets were only sold as a full set of four, never singles, which is why you hardly ever see just the red one at thrift shops. I had no clue the color mattered that much for dating them. Has anyone else used an old collector booklet like this to figure out what they actually have? I'm wondering if the same rules work for the Fire-King stuff.
