Those $40 Depression glass pitchers finally made sense to me

I stopped by that big flea market in Round Top last month and usually blow past the glass case, but one seller let me hold a pink Anchor Hocking pitcher and the weight felt so different from what I expected. She told me it was machine pressed, not hand blown, and suddenly I got why collectors care about the mold lines and the slight wobble in the rim. Anyone else have that moment where touching an old piece flips your opinion on the whole hobby?

Machine pressed, not hand blown" is just a fancy way of saying someone figured out how to make a wobbly pitcher for the masses. I had the same moment with an old Pyrex bowl, except mine was realizing the "vintage charm" was actually just a slight manufacturing mistake. Now I can't unsee the mold lines either, so thanks for giving me a new thing to obsess over at garage sales.
