Rant: I dropped a $65 milk glass vase in aisle 3 of the flea market and the vendor made me pay for it
So last Saturday I'm at the big flea market off Route 40 in Vandalia, right. I pick up this white milk glass vase to check the bottom for a maker mark and it just slides right out of my hands. Wet from the rain that morning. Smashed into like 5 pieces on the concrete.
The vendor, nice older lady named Dot, comes over and says I still have to pay the $65 she had on the tag. I get it, it's her stuff and it broke in my hands. But I tried to talk her down, offered $40 since it's not like she can resell a pile of glass. She wasn't budging. Ended up giving her the full amount.
Now every time I touch anything glass at a market I hold it over the table or ask the seller to hand it to me. Anyone else had this happen or am I the only one who pays full price for stuff I break? How do you all handle it when a seller wants full tag price on something you shattered?
