Bought a $25 cast iron skillet at a flea market in St. Louis and thought it was junk until I stripped it down
I was sure the rust was too deep and someone just ruined a pan, but after a weekend with some vinegar and steel wool it came out like new. Has anyone else found a hidden gem they almost passed on?

My buddy Dave found a beat up old Weller soldering iron at an estate sale in Ohio for like 5 bucks last summer. It was caked in rust and the cord was frayed, he almost threw it in the trash. He spent a few hours cleaning the terminals and replacing the cord with one from an old lamp, thing works perfectly now and he uses it for all his electronics projects. That was a solid weekend find for him, cost maybe 8 dollars total to get it running again.

Honestly that's the kind of find that makes me jealous. Ngl I love seeing old tools brought back to life like that. Tbh most people would've just tossed it without thinking twice. There's something really satisfying about fixing up vintage gear instead of buying new plastic junk. Dave got a steal for sure.
