Update: the 1891 map that made me stop trusting county lines

I always thought old surveys were just off by a few feet, so when someone on here said to double check the 1891 railroad right-of-way maps against the 1930 plat books, I laughed it off. Then I pulled both for my area near Roanoke, Virginia and the county boundary shifted by nearly a mile between the two. The younger map had a town called Persimmon Hollow that vanished, and the older one showed a creek bend that matched the 2025 satellite view perfectly. That advice from user OldCartographerBob turned out completely right, my whole property line logic was built on the wrong base map. Has anyone else found a similar mismatch where the older map was actually more accurate than the newer one?
