My antique dealer buddy swore this 1800s map of Ohio was a fake, I framed it anyway

So last month I picked up this hand drawn map of some forgotten Ohio township from a flea market in Dayton. Seller said it was from the 1830s. My friend Mike who flips old maps for a living took one look and laughed, said the border line for Greene County was way too straight for that era, and the paper felt too new. He told me to toss it. Ngl I almost believed him, but something about the faded ink and the weird misspelling of Xenia as 'Xenoa' made me keep it. I got it appraised at a local shop yesterday and the guy said it's legit, probably 1841, worth around 300 bucks. Mike's been quiet since. Has anyone else had an expert tell you something was a repro and it turned out real? Or the other way around?

...my buddy Carl had the exact opposite thing happen, he had this old Spalding baseball glove he was sure was from the 20s, got all excited about it, and the appraiser told him it was a good 1960s repro that someone aged with shoe polish and dirt. Carl paid like fifty bucks for it thinking he'd hit a payday, and now it just sits in his garage next to his lawnmower, he won't even toss it because he's convinced the guy was wrong too...
