Used to binge 12 episodes a night, now I watch 2 and call it quits
After college I'd crush whole seasons of One Piece in a weekend, but last week I fell asleep halfway through episode 3 of a new show. Does anyone else just lose the energy for long marathon sessions as you get older?

That one time I tried to watch The Wire from start to finish in a single weekend. Made it through season 2 before I started hallucinating the chessboard monologue in my sleep. Now I watch maybe two episodes of anything before my brain starts telling me its time to fold laundry or reorganize the spice rack. Last month I spent four hours reading Wikipedia articles about those concrete pyramids in Romania instead of finishing the third episode of a show I was actually enjoying.

When I was in my twenties I used to roll my eyes at friends who said they couldn't binge shows anymore. I thought they just weren't trying hard enough. But now at 44 I get it completely. I watched three episodes of The Bear the other night and had to stop because my brain just felt full and I needed to process what happened. It's like my attention span has a hard cap now that I never had before.
