Tried skipping the first 5 minutes of every anime episode for a week

I was getting burned out on long intros and recap scenes, so I tested just jumping ahead 5 minutes each time. Ended up missing a key plot twist in episode 3 of Orbital Ninja and had to rewatch the whole thing. Anyone else tried a weird shortcut like this and had it backfire?

Oh man, a friend of mine skipped the first ten minutes of a cooking show and thought the contestant just really liked burnt toast for half the season!

Stick to skipping just the OP and ED sequences instead of a straight five minutes. Most streaming sites have a skip button that lands you right on the actual story content.
