TIL a trick at Anime Expo that fixed my subtitles issue
At Anime Expo last summer I was watching a panel where they played a clip with subs that were all jumbled up. The guy running the projector said he just re-synced them by adjusting the delay in VLC by 2.3 seconds. I tried it on a crunchyroll rip I had with laggy subs and it actually worked perfectly. Has anyone else had to mess with subtitle timing to save a bad fansub?

Did you know some old DVD players let you adjust subtitle delay with the remote (I found this out the hard way after a bad rental)?

Used to think subtitle delay was just something you put up with or downloaded a different version lol. Then I had this one fansub where the subs were like a full 4 seconds off in the final episode and it was driving me crazy. Tried the VLC delay trick and it was a total game changer, now I mess with it all the time for bad rips.
